Former Spurs man ready for Gills challenge.
Gills new signing Dean Parrett says he can’t wait for the new season to start.
The former Spurs man signed a two-year at the Medway Priestfield Stadium last week having turned down a new offer at fellow League 1 club AFC Wimbledon.
After agreeing terms on his new deal he told the club website:
“I sat down with the manager, liked the conversation we had, I know a couple of the players here and the ambition of the club matched mine.
“I want to play as high as I can; I want to get in the Championship very soon, I saw the passion in the manager and I wanted to play for him. I could see myself being here, I don’t live too far away and I’m looking forward to it.
“I know Max Ehmer and Josh Parker, building a good atmosphere is half the battle and after speaking to them they said it was really good."
Dean leaves Wimbledon after two years at Kingsmeadow, but he said he felt the time was right to explore a new challenge.
He added: “I really enjoyed my time there, we had ups and downs which you get everywhere but I feel I did really well. I felt it was time for a new challenge.
“It’s nice to have something sorted so soon; the market can be quiet at this time but it’s nice to be able to enjoy your holiday and it also gives you that bit of excitement knowing where you’re going to be.”
For those who haven’t seen the player in action before, Parrett outlined where on the pitch he is best utilised.
He said: “For sure centre midfield, I’m an attacking midfielder who likes to get forward and have shots on goal. It’s nice to have something sorted so soon; the market can be quiet at this time but it’s nice to be able to enjoy your holiday and it also gives you that bit of excitement knowing where you’re going to be.
“I can’t wait to get started, I wish it was tomorrow.”
