Priestfield preparing for first sleepout event

Several people set to sleep under the lights at the home of Football in Kent.

The Medway Priestfield Stadium is preparing to host the first ever street soccer sleepout event.

The event, which has been organised by Street Soccer and the club's community trust, calls on business and community leaders to come together and sleep outdoors for one night, raising money and awareness of homelessness, poverty and youth unemployment across the region.

CEO and founder of The Street Soccer Foundation, Keith Mabbutt, said: “We’re asking business leaders across Kent and the South East to give up just one night of comfort to sleep outdoors at Priestfield Stadium to help others less fortunate than themselves.

“Having discussed it with our good friends at Gillingham FC I’m delighted the Chairman and the team have given us the go-ahead and the support we sought to help us collectively, make a genuine difference to young people’s lives."
