GFC Community and Girls Academy join forces to host EFL competition at Beechings.
Congratulations to Rainham School for Girls who have advanced to the area final of the EFL U13 Girls’ Cup.
The club’s community trust hosted the opening stages at Beechings Cross, where eight schools competed for the right to represent Gillingham FC at Millwall Football Club in the next round.
Eight schools took part on the day, including; Rochester, Goodwin, Royal Harbour, Fulston Manor, Abbey, Dover Grammar, Rainham and Highstead.
Each team played each other for 20 minutes, with the Gillingham Girls Academy team refereeing and running the matches.
The finals were between Rochester and Rainham and ended in a 0-0 draw. The game went into additional time before being decided via a penalty shootout. Both goalkeepers saved every attempt, with a player from Rochester School then hitting the post, giving Rainham the win.
“Overall, everyone who took part on the day did themselves, their school and the Gills proud in their effort, determination and professionalism throughout the tournament, showing their skills and passion for the game.” said Gills Community Trust Coach, Barry Cooper.
