Tom Eaves provides late drama as Gills secure a point in stoppage time at Shrewsbury.
Steve Lovell said he was very pleased with a point after seeing his Gillingham side battle back to earn a 2-2 draw at the Montgomery Waters Meadow on Saturday.
Ollie Norburn had scored what everybody thought was a winner for Shrewsbury on 88 minutes, only for Eaves to come on and haunt his former club with a superb finish in stoppage time.
Following the game Steve said: “Very pleased; I thought the boys did very well. They worked hard; we did well in the first-half to go in with the lead but Shrewsbury had a go, threw everybody at us and we defended really well.
“I was disappointed to concede when we did and the second was a killer blow but Mr. Eaves came on and got our goal; I’m really pleased for him. He knows what the situation is, I did it last year, left him out and he came back and he got some goals so hopefully it will be the same again.
“I’m pleased for the boys; the players deserve that point and when you’re on a bad run it tends to go against you and at 2-1 you’re thinking `here it goes again` but fair play to them, they dug in and did really well. I’m really pleased with a point.”
