Open training session today at Priestfield

Steve Evans and Paul Raynor set to welcome fans to ME7 for open training.

Manager Steve Evans and Assistant boss Paul Raynor will be holding an open training session at MEMS Priestfield Stadium at midday today.

The Gills management will be running a 45 minute session on the main pitch just a day prior to the club’s pre-season friendly against Southend United on Friday July 26.

All first-team players will be involved as the club looks to improve its links in the local community. Previously, events of such kind have been held at the training ground; however Steve Evans has taken things a step further by welcoming supporters to the stadium to watch the team be put through their paces.

Following the session players will make their way to the Great Hall where supporters can obtain autographs and have pictures taken with members of the squad who will all have their own individual tables. This will last 45 minutes, from 1.15 until 2pm.

Doors to the ground will open at 11.00.

Steve Evans said: “It’s always massively important that the supporters get to know the players, the new ones especially. It’s an opportunity to see not only the players train, but to chat to them afterwards and see what it’s like to be a footballer as I make a little attempt to bring us more into community life and give something back to the kids who are the supporters of now and the future.”
