Gills sign Blades winger on loan.
Gillingham have captured the signing of winger Nathan Thomas on a season long loan deal from Premier League side Sheffield United.
The 24-year-old agreed terms late on Monday and will train for the first time with his new team-mates on Tuesday.
Thomas, who came through the youth ranks at both Sunderland and Newcastle, signed a three-year deal with the Blades in the summer of 2017 but has had three loan spells away from Bramall Lane in search of regular first-team football, at Shrewsbury, Notts County and Carlisle United respectively.
Last season he netted four times in 45 appearances for County and United prior to returning to his parent club, who gained promotion to the Premier League at the end of last season after finishing as runners-up to Norwich in the Championship.
Thomas, after making his professional debut for Plymouth in December 2013, has also enjoyed spells at Motherwell, Darlington and Mansfield.
Speaking to iFollow, Nathan said: “The club has showed a lot of ambition in the transfer window, and the gaffer has shown what he wants to achieve this season so it was a no brainer for me.
“It’s been ongoing for the best part of two weeks now, and obviously once I found out what he wanted to do this season and the squad he wanted to assemble then he sold the club pretty well.”
A full interview with Gills new signing will be on iFollow in due course.
