Denis Hunt recently passed away at the age of 81.
The club were very saddened to learn of the recent passing of former player Denis Hunt who died last month at the age of 81.
Denis, who passed away following a relatively short illness, featured 355 times for the Gills and scored six times between 1958 and 1968, putting him 13th on the club’s all-time appearance records list. He was part of the team that won the division four title in 1964 and was an ever present at left-back prior to his move to Brentford in 1968.
He also served in the British Army.
He went on to manage Folkestone Invicta for four years, starting that job in 1969, before taking up similar roles at both Ashford and Margate before retiring, after which he ran a newsagents in Guildhall for several years.
His family and friends will be holding a celebration of his life at Bar Invicta (opposite Folkestone Football Club) at 3pm on Friday 15th March for anyone that would like to attend.
