GILLINGHAM V PETERBOROUGH UNITED

MEMS Priestfield Stadium

Sky Bet League 1

Saturday October 19, 2019

Kick-Off, 3pm

Team News:

Barry Fuller could return to the starting XI after missing last Saturday’s trip to Fratton Park. Matty Willock (knee) is still a couple of weeks away from first-team consideration.

As for the Posh, they will be without midfielder Louis Reed due to a one-match suspension.

Manager Comments:

Steve Evans – “We will need to be at our very best. It's a stern task but we have good players and we will have a plan. We need to be careful not to leave ourselves open.

“We were solid and hardworking last week and we will need to be the same on Saturday.”

Darren Ferguson - “I’m expecting nothing other than a tough game on Saturday. Gillingham have been decent at home. They beat Wycombe and they pushed Ipswich close. They made it hard for Portsmouth away from home last week.

“I expect Gillingham to play two up front and to be aggressive and positive. They weren’t at Portsmouth, but I can’t see them playing like that at home. We will have to battle to get three points for sure, but it’s important we start winning away from home again.”

Previous Meetings:

Peterborough won both fixtures between the clubs last season; under Steve Evans the Posh won 4-2 at Priestfield and then, under Darren Ferguson, they secured a 2-0 win at London Road in April.

In total the two teams have met on 50 occasions. Peterborough have won 16 of those games while Gills have clinched 14 victories.

Odds:

Gills win – 11/4

Draw – 5/2

Posh Win – 10/11

Special Bet: Stuart O’Keefe to score first in a 2-1 Gills win – 260/1.
