Strong centre-back added to Gills squad ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
The Gills have won the race from one particular Championship club and serious competition from League 1 to capture the signing of former Spurs and Congolese international defender Christian Maghoma.
The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a permanent contract at MEMS Priestfield Stadium and will join up immediately with his new team-mates for a training camp in the UK. Manager Steve Evans will assess the player before deciding if he will feature for The Gills at Leyton Orient on Saturday.
The defender, who has been playing in Poland for the last two seasons with then Premier League side Arka Gdynia, winning the Polish Super Cup in the process, came through the academy ranks at Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur but decided on a move abroad after leaving the London giants.
The Gills Manager was delighted to get his man, saying:
“Christian is a big powerful, no nonsense central defender.
“We have had to be patient to land his talents and I am grateful to Chairman Paul Scally for working hard to get him here.
“We will let the lad settle in and we will go from there. It takes our first-team squad numbers to 17 players so we are getting closer to the numbers we will start the season with. A small but talented squad.”
The player himself added: “I know the size of the club and where it wants to go in the future and everyone in the building has been so welcoming.
"I just want to play; I love Football and have been playing since I was eight. I'm tough, I won't let people get past me easily and I love to talk and be a leader."
