Midfielder departs ME7.
Gillingham Football Club can confirm that midfielder Mark Marshall will leave MEMS Priestfield Stadium following the expiration of his contract this week.
The 32-year-old joined the Gills in the summer upon his release by Charlton Athletic and made 23 appearances in all competitions for the Kent club, the last of which coming as a second half substitute against West Ham United in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup earlier this month.
With his contract set to expire prior to this weekend’s game at Rochdale, the management have decided not to renew it, allowing the player to join another club.
Manager Steve Evans said: “Mark has been a great professional in his short time with us.
“At times he has been unfortunate and we all wish him every success in the future.
“With the lowest budget in League 1 we have to try our best to make sure every penny we spend on players gives maximum value so hopefully we can add to the squad in the key areas I have identified.”
Gillingham Football Club would like to thank Mark for his services while at MEMS Priestfield Stadium and we wish him well for the future.
Mark has since joined League 2 side Northampton Town.
