Lee: "We are the underdogs, but every dog has his day!"

Central midfielder eager to get going against West Ham.

Gills midfielder Olly Lee says the players are relishing the opportunity to go head-to-head against Premier League opposition this Sunday.

West Ham United visit MEMS Priestfield Stadium tomorrow in the Emirates FA Cup and, although the Gills have already played at home twice during the competition, this will be different from the others as they will play in front of a sell-out crowd.

Lee realises how big of an occasion Sunday will be, and he cannot wait to revel in it.

He said: “It’s a sell-out game and as players that’s what we look forward to. We want to play in front of big crowds and test ourselves against international players and Premier League teams.

“They’re an established Premier League side, but every dog has its day. We look forward to it, and as we say it’s a chance for us as players to test ourselves against the best and see where we’re at.

“I fancy us.”

Lee came through the academy ranks at West Ham and could line-up against Mark Noble, somebody who helped him during his early career.

He said: “It will be nice. Mark was really good to me when I was coming through the academy so it will be nice to test myself against him.

“He’s a top player and a top pro, so I look forward to seeing him.”
