We invite all fans to join us this Thursday as Gills celebrate the 20-year anniversary since beating Wigan at Wembley in the division two play-off final.
Thursday May 28 will mark 20 years since Gillingham beat Wigan Athletic 3-2 at Wembley Stadium to clinch promotion to the First Division.
Andy Thomson’s goal in the 118th minute ensured Peter Taylor’s men won the right to play in the second tier for the first time in the club’s history, coming from 2-1 down to take victory in the second division play-off final after an amazing season.
To commemorate the occasion, we will be offering a full match replay completely free to air via iFollow and our YouTube page, which includes selected pre-match build-up and a significant part of Sky Sports’ post-match coverage.
In addition to that our official Twitter page will be conducting live text commentary as per a regular live fixture, which will include video and pictures throughout the day. We welcome any images or material from fans, just tweet @TheGillsFC with the hash tag #Gills2000.
Furthermore we will uploading interviews to the club website, YouTube and social media platforms over the next few days to revisit memories from some of the squad members that played.
