Gaffer nominated for the Sky Bet League 1 manager of the month award

Gills boss one of four to be nominated for official Sky Bet award.

Gillingham manager Steve Evans has been nominated for the Sky Bet League 1 manager of the month award for March.

This means the club has a double nomination with Vadaine Oliver also among the nominees for the player award.

The full list of manager nominations are as follows:

Steve Evans (Gillingham)

His high-energy side didn’t give their opponents a moment’s rest in March, pressing, harrying and playing their way into the play-off places. The 3-0 win at Lincoln was the highlight of a haul of 17 points and 16 goals from eight games.

Simon Grayson (Fleetwood Town)

His calm, understated manner has been appreciated by his new team, who quietly collected 13 points from six games to banish any threat of relegation. The base was a solid defensive foundation with just one goal conceded.

Lee Johnson (Sunderland)

Has made believers of his players and the Sunderland fans. He didn’t allow the distraction of a first Wembley triumph in 48 years upset their promotion charge which gathered pace with 16 points from six unbeaten games.

Grant McCann (Hull City)

Seems to possess the priceless ability to inspire his side to win the matches that matter most. Of all their results in a month which yielded 14 points and kept Hull top of League One, their 3-1 comeback win at Peterborough stood out.

ALL WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON FRIDAY 9 APRIL 2021
