Youth team grab late equaliser at the Bauvill Stadium.
George Baker-Moran scored in the seventh minute of second half stoppage time to earn Gills youth team a point in a 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient at the Bauvill Stadium on Tuesday.
The striker found the bottom corner with an excellent header in the dying seconds, courtesy of Bailey Akehurst's pin point cross which proved too much for Orient's stand in keeper, with the visitors reduced to ten men late on when their goalkeeper was sent off.
Gills fell behind early on when a looping header proved too much for Charlie Walker, and the first half saw the ball played mainly in the midfield areas with opportunities few and far between, although Josh Chambers did force a fine save when his shot inside the area was well blocked.
Craig Stone's team bossed for large spells in the second half and had a number of chances to pull level with Baker-Moran, Gerald Sithole, Joseph Grode and Ethan Smith all forcing saves, but when the keeper was sent off with just minutes to play, Gills pounced.
Akehurst's left footed delivery was placed right into the heart of the danger zone, and it was Baker-Moran who timed his jump to perfection and his header found the bottom corner with just seconds left on the watch.
Gills starting XI: Walker, Baker, Gale, Lintott, Maher, Smith, Chambers, Akehurst, Sithole, Grode, Baker-Moran.
Subs: Crump, Giles, Ley
