Commanding goalkeeper arrives at MEMS Priestfield Stadium.
Gills boss Steve Evans has added a goalkeeper to his squad with the capture of former Peterborough United stopper, Aaron Chapman.
The 31-year-old is a commanding presence, standing at 6’7, and has played under the manager before during his time at London Road and was part of the side that sat top of League 1 in stages throughout the 2018/19 season.
Chapman began his career in non-league and progressed to Accrington Stanley where he won the “Golden Glove” in League 2 as they romped to promotion.
Aaron was snapped up by Posh and he was a clear number 1 until the arrival of current custodian, Christy Pym.
He was released by the Posh last summer and subsequently joined Motherwell on a one-year deal, playing seven times. In total he has made 148 career appearances.
On signing the player, the manager said: “Chappy is a top goalkeeper.
“He lost his way a little after he lost the number 1 jersey at Posh, he won’t be the first or the last. I had a very similar thing with Jordan Graham last summer, so Chappy now has that same challenge.
“He knows another goalkeeper will be added soon as I want good competition for that shirt.
“He was brilliant at times and he certainly was here at Priestfield when I came here with Posh. Without doubt he is a very good signing.”
