Mike Burgess has sadly passed away.
The Football Club is very saddended to learn that former league championship winner, Mike Burgess, has passed away at the age of 89.
Mike, who played for the Gills between the years of 1962 and 1966, was born in Canada but began his playing career with Bradford Park Avenue before spells at Leyton Orient, Newport County and AFC Bournemouth.
Burgess was part of the Gills squad that won the fourth division title in 1964. In total he made 120 appearances and scored two goals during his four-year stint at Priestfield.
He sadly died on June 17 in Dorset. His funeral will take place on July 8 at Harbour View Crematorium.
The Football Club would like to pass on its deepest condolences to Mike's family, friends and loved ones at this very difficult time.
