MEMS Priestfield Stadium to host Youth Final on Wednesday.
Gillingham’s U18s will play Rochdale at MEMS Priestfield Stadium on Wednesday May 5 in the Youth Alliance League Cup National Final.
The game will kick-off at 1pm and will be streamed live on our official YouTube channel. As per first-team fixtures, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the match is being played behind closed doors.
Craig Stone’s side have done incredibly well to reach the Final, having overcome a string of top class opponents away from home such as Oxford, Exeter and Peterborough, the latter two ties being decided by penalty kicks.
The team is in good form but will be without Gerald Sithole due to injury. Harvey Lintott, who has recently agreed his first professional contract, is set to feature alongside the likes of Bailey Akehurst, Harry Maher and Vinnie Medhurst who have all been regulars for the youth side this season.
Stone said: “I’m really pleased for the players; they have worked so hard during this cup run and deserve their place in the Final.
“We will prepare in the proper way, be professional in our work and play the game rather than the occasion. Of course, we will respect the opposition, but focus more on our strengths and what we can do to hurt them.”
The YouTube link will be made available between midday and 1230 on May 5, via the club website and social media platforms.
