Gills boss Steve Evans says a few younger players could be involved for the final fixture of the 2020/21 campaign.
Gillingham v Plymouth Argyle
Sky Bet League One
MEMS Priestfield Stadium
Sunday May 9
Kick-Off, midday
Team News:
Steve Evans confirmed that Sunday could be an opportunity for a couple of the younger players in the squad to feature.
Ryan Jackson and Robbie Cundy may play having failed fitness tests ahead of last weekend's game at Burton.
Plymouth captain Gary Sawyer will not play having announced his retirement at the end of the season due to injury.
Jerome Opoku will miss the game having been sent off during the defeat to Sunderland. Ryan Lowe could use Sunday’s game to give his younger players first team experience.
Manager Comments:
Steve Evans - “We want to win first and foremost. It’s a decent opponent that beat us earlier in the season and we’re looking forward to the game.
“We don’t want to let the supporters down; we want to win. We want to finish this season positively because the lads have been nothing short of fantastic.”
Kyle Dempsey - “We’ll approach the game as we’ve done all year. We’re focussing on having a positive end to the season especially after the last couple of weeks.
"We’ve played some really good stuff but fell a bit short in some of the games and key moments which have cost us.
“We’ll have the same focus and same mentality and go out and give it everything we’ve got to try and win the game, and finish on a positive note.”
Ryan Lowe - “I’ve said to the group that we want to go out with a bang. We want to get points.
“We want to try and win every game we go into and Sunday is going to be no different.”

Gills played Plymouth on the final day of the 2017/18 League One season, and it was a fantastic day for Tom Eaves. The striker scored a hat-trick in 21 minutes as the Gills won 5-2. Josh Parker and Elliott List also scored in the game.
A memorable home win over Plymouth came during the 2012/13 title winning season. Goals from Antonio German and Chris Whelpdale put Martin Allen’s side 2-0 up and although Josh Banton scored with 13 minutes to go, it proved to only be a consolation.
Plymouth lead the head-to-head with 34 wins to Gillingham’s 30. There have also been 16 draws between the clubs.
Odds:
Gillingham win - 8/11
Draw - 11/4
Plymouth Argyle win - 10/3
