Former Oxford man well aware of the challenges that will be faced on Saturday.
Gills midfielder Alex MacDonald says his teammates will be hunting for three points when they face his former side Oxford United on Saturday.
MacDonald, who spent two successful years at the Kassam Stadium, knows better than most how dangerous Karl Robinson’s team can be but he is still confident that the Gills can return to Medway with three points.
The attack-minded schemer, speaking to the press ahead of the Sky Bet League One clash, said: “Personally, I have a lot of great memories from that stadium, but for us last year, that’s where our play-off dreams ended.
“I had two fantastic years there and we had a lot of success; Wembley days out, promotions, cup runs… we ticked every box.
“They are a very good technical team; a passing team. They have a fantastic squad of players and a fantastic manager. It’s going to be a really tough task but hopefully we can go there and get a positive result.
“We have not been good enough so far and we are drawing too many games. It’s not down to a lack of effort, it is still early days. We are well aware of what we have in the dressing room and what we are capable of doing. The hunger and desire is there.
“We have done our homework and we will be looking to hurt them. We are a very good team and are capable of creating problems. We need to get on the front foot and take the game to them.”
