Everyone at the Football Club was absolutely delighted to welcome Daniel Lysak as our special guest for the visit of Fleetwood Town on Easter Monday.
Daniel, 11, is a Ukranian refugee and has been in the UK with his mother, Yana, for less than two weeks. He is currently staying with Gills fan, Malcolm Bell, who accompanied Daniel to MEMS Priestfield Stadium on the day.
Their group arrived at the ground at 1230 and had a guided tour of the facilities, which involved visiting the dressing room where they had a quick talk with Stuart O'Keefe, Olly Lee, Max Ehmer and Ben Thompson.
They were then visited by manager, Neil Harris, in the dugout before having time to meet other supporters inside the stadium.
At 2.20pm mascots, Tommy and Tammy, paid Daniel a visit where they presented him, and Malcolm's son Freddie, with replica shirts and goodie bags. They then both walked out with the players ahead of kick-off before taking their seats in the Lower Medway Stand.
This was Daniel's first ever live Football match.
The club were absolutely delighted to welcome Daniel to MEMS Priestfield Stadium and we hope to see him again soon.
