Former Gibraltar international joins the Gills backroom staff.
The Football Club is delighted to announce that Deren Ibrahim as been appointed as full-time Goalkeeping Coach.
Deren, 30, travelled with the squad on Friday and manager Neil Harris confirmed the former Dartford man had officially joined the club during his post-match interview on Saturday.
Ibrahim came through the academy ranks at Queens Park Rangers but made his debut for Dartford in 2008 and went on to make close to 200 appearances for the Darts.
He also enjoyed stints at Sittingbourne and Maidstone.
He featured eight times for the Gibraltar National side and is now involved with the Welsh U19 setup.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, the Gills boss said: “Deren joined us yesterday [Friday], infrastructure is so key. He is a local person, he knows the club very well, knows a lot of the players, knows the staff and he’s a great appointment.
“He has a great future in front of him; he works for the Welsh national team as well; he’s really well thought of and I felt fortunate to bring him in. He’s a member of staff I want to work with and we are building a group of staff who can help the players get better.”
