Mikael Mandron ready to get going having returned to Priestfield for a second spell.
Mikael Mandron’s smile is infectious and the Frenchman’s unrelenting positivity and enthusiasm was on full display when he walked through the doors at ME7 for the second time in his career to sign a contract. The decision to return, he says, was “an easy one.”
The former Sunderland, Wigan, Crewe and Colchester hitman proved popular with the Priestfield faithful last time but now Mandon says he is returning with a bit more in his locker.
“I am very happy to be back,” said the beaming striker. “I had a good time during my first spell at Gillingham so when the opportunity came up to return I was happy to do it.
“I came in for the medical and everything was fine and I am nice and fit. I met the boys and then did a fitness test which was tough but I am actually feeling very good. I can’t wait to get started.
“The main reason for joining Gillingham again was the manager. Knowing what a great manager he is and after the discussion with him as well, it made it very appealing for me to come. Neil Harris being a striker made it a good opportunity for me to learn from him and improve.
“It feels like I have only been away a year, but it’s actually two and a half years. A lot of things have happened at the club and it seems like a lot of improvement has been made. Everyone around the place seems delighted to be here, it’s the perfect environment for me.
“I’ve improved since my first spell here and I am now more experienced. I am a better player and hopefully I will be able to show that. I’m always looking to improve and always looking to learn.
“My first time here was great and the fans have always had my back. I’m looking forward to playing in front of them again.”
