Gills boss Neil Harris could welcome back Shaun Williams and Olly Lee to his matchday squad ahead of the trip to Doncaster on Saturday.
Doncaster Rovers v Gillingham
Sky Bet League Two
Eco-Power Stadium
Saturday October 29th
Kick-Off, 3pm
Team News:
Shaun Williams could return to the matchday squad for the trip to Doncaster as Neil Harris refused to rule out the experienced midfielder. Ben Reeves could make the trip depending on if he can prove his fitness. Olly Lee could also travel.
Tommy Rowe will miss Saturday’s game, while the fixture will likely come too soon for Reo Griffiths and Joseph Olowu. Doncaster captain Adam Clayton picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against Stevenage, meaning he will miss Saturday through suspension.
Manager Comments:
Neil Harris - "As time goes by Doncaster will get better and better.
"I made three changes the other night. I have to adjust for certain games and certain teams.
"I will pick a team accordingly based on a number of factors."
Danny Schofield - “The lads have been fantastic. I’ve thrown a lot of information at them that they have taken on board in a short space of time.
“I’ve been impressed by what they have implemented on the pitch over two games, in such a short space of time - that’s a credit to the players."
Previous Meetings:
Gillingham’s last trip to the Eco-Power Stadium came in March earlier this year. Gills came away with a crucial win thanks to a goal in the opening seconds from Charlie Kelman. Ryan Jackson’s long throw into the penalty area bounced inside the six-yard box before making its way towards the goal. Kelman was waiting at the back post to head in from less than a yard out.
The hosts applied pressure in the second half as they tried to find an equaliser, but Neil Harris' side stood strong as they hung on for all three points.
The last time the two clubs met in the Fourth Division of English football came in April 1996. Dennis Bailey scored the only goal on the day to help strengthen Gillingham’s promotion hopes. Bailey latched onto Leo Fortune-West’s low cross at the back post as his sliding effort found the roof of the net.
