Support was immense at Barrow, says Gills boss.
Manager Neil Harris heaped praise on Gillingham's 'mega' away fans who journeyed 328 miles to see their team take on AFC Barrow.
Cruelly for the 320 diehard supporters who took on the six-hour journey, Gillingham were defeated at the death after conceding a 94th minute Barrow winner to lose 2-1, but Harris says he appreciates every single follower that made the trip.
"I want to say a huge thank you to the fans," said Harris. "I want to say thanks to the nutters who have come all that way, from myself, all the players, the staff and the Football Club. I can not praise them or thank them enough, I think they are crazy but it is so much appreciated, so thank you.
"I am frustrated for the fans who travelled and the players because we gave a poor goal away, we have to do better. These are not the things I expect or accept from my team. We need to keep searching for that away day formula. We can't just rely on being really good at home, we have to match it away.
"Our fans are mega, absolutely crazy travelling all this way. They do it because they love their team and they do it because they are proud of their team at the moment. I can't praise them, thank them or appreciate them enough. I feel for them, in the second half we arguably deserved a point out of the game and they would have been pleased to be here.
"I hope they get home safe. Don't underestimate how important it was when I stepped out of the tunnel and I couldn't believe what I saw. We all appreciate you."
