Cheye Alexander looks ahead to the midweek fixture at ME7.
Cheye Alexander has warned all visiting teams that when you play Gillingham at MEMS Priestfield Stadium it is going to be 12 v 11.
Ahead of tonight’s Sky Bet League Two Clash with Bradford, Alexander praised the club’s incredible fanbase and said their support is driving the team on.
Loyal fans are certainly in full voice at the moment with the Gills enjoying a four game winning streak on home turf and the defender sees no reason why they can’t keep the impressive run of results going.
“Whoever comes to Priestfield is going to have a difficult game,” said Alexander. “A packed Priestfield is massive, it’s huge. The supporters are our twelfth man.
“The fanbase at this club is amazing and we hope to keep providing performances and wins for them to keep them coming back.
“We have got the confidence to go into any game knowing that we can win the game. If we do what we need to do, then we will win.
“We are on a great run and we have to keep going. We are winning, playing well and we are hungry. Let’s keep up this momentum.”
Alexander was the hero of the weekend, lashing in an incredible winner against his former side Wimbledon to give the Gills a 2-1 victory.
The Gills initially fell behind after Ali Al-Hamadi had struck for the Dons but Max Ehmer’s equaliser and Alexander’s sublime winner sent the Rainham End berserk.
“I hit it cleanly, it was a good finish,” said Alexander. “I’ll watch that goal a few times on video, I’m not going to lie to you. Hopefully, I can get a few more goals now.
“I’ve been waiting for one of them this season. I knew as soon as I hit it that it was in. The feeling was amazing and to win the game with that strike was great for the fans and myself.
“It was a good win but that win is gone now; now we focus on Bradford.”
