School pupils work on their tiling skills for their BTEC qualification.
GFC Students, who are currently working towards their BTEC qualification in Construction, have been busy this week developing and demonstrating their tiling skills.
The eager pupils, who are also being taught plumbing and electrics, cut out large boards to work on. They learnt how to prepare the wall, select the appropriate tiles and then apply them with adhesives. They also had to precisely cut tiles to allow space for power sockets, which they then wired and installed themselves.
“These students are learning very important skills which will benefit them in life and also potentially open up new career paths,” said pastoral lead Steven Osborn. “I am very impressed with their confidence, how much knowledge they have gained and the care they take to complete tasks.”
