Gills capture the signing of Shadrach Ogie

Defender arrives at Priestfield on a permanent basis.

Gillingham have completed the signing of 21-year-old centre-back, Shadrach Ogie, from Leyton Orient for an undisclosed fee.

The former Republic of Ireland U19 international arrives at Priestfield having played 58 times in all competitions for the League 1 club since joining them in 2018.

He has since enjoyed spells out on loan with Bishop's Stortford, Dover Athletic and Aldershot Town respectively. He made his professional debut for the O’s in an EFL Trophy tie in September 2019 at home to Southend United having begun his career in Ireland with Pike Rovers, prior to joining Hornchurch.

He will join up with his new teammates on Thursday ahead of Gills pre-season friendly against Dartford at Princes Park on Saturday.

He featured 15 times under Richie Wellens last season with Leyton Orient clinching the League 2 title, and automatic promotion.

Manager Neil Harris said: "He's competitive, he's quick, aggressive, left footed. He complements our defensive players really well, he has a good passing range, so we are really pleased.

"We have had to be patient, he is ready to go and will be in the matchday squad on Saturday. We look forward to working with him."

We would like to officially welcome Shad to Priestfield, an interview with the player will be uploaded to iFollow later in the week.
