Defender hoping his leadership skills can play a vital role in Gills upcoming season.
Conor Masterson has described his time at Liverpool as 'living the dream' and the ambitious player says that he hopes his experiences at Anfield can help the Gills in 2023/24.
Masterson, 23, joined Liverpool, a place where elite footballers are made, at the young age of 16. Captaining the Reds' U18s team and moving on to the U23s, Masterson would eventually be sat on the bench in a UEFA Champions League Quarter Final as his team eliminated Manchester City, so it's fair to say the club has a player with real pedigree.
The determined centre-back, who recently signed a permanent contract at Gillingham, is now keen to show supporters just how far he is willinging to push himself to get himself back up the divisions.
"I was living the dream at Liverpool, if I'm honest," said Conor. "I was training with the first team for three or four months, learning from Virgil van Dijk and Dejan Lovren.
"I got to see the leadership qualities of (James) Milner and (Jordan) Henderson. It was unbelievable.
"I was around a lot of good players. The one that sticks out is Trent (Alexander-Arnold) who I played with in the youth team.
"I trained with the first team as well, I was about 19. I was marking (Roberto) Firmino and (Mohamed) Salah. If they were getting ready for a game, I'd be on the other team against that front three of Firmino, Salah and Sadio Mané. You are obviously going to learn a lot against them.
"It was a great experience.
"I have courage and optimism. I have belief in myself that I can get back to that level. The reason I am here is because of Neil Harris and David Livermore. They have given me my chance to build my career. I want to repay them by winning football matches.
"I want to move up the leagues and I hope that is with Gillingham because it is, as they say, a sleeping giant."
