Experienced midfielder says there is still work to be done, but players collectively are growing in confidence.
Alex MacDonald insists that Gillingham will ‘never take their foot off the gas’ after they moved nine points clear of the relegation zone.
The hardworking midfielder was pleased with the 2-0 home win over Tranmere but his mind has already moved on to the next game and the next opportunity of picking up three points.
“We are not fine until we are mathematically safe,” said MacDonald. “Nothing is over until it is mathematically over.
“Even when we get over that line we won’t take our foot off the gas, we need to go into the next season with a massive amount of momentum.
“We could of scored a couple more goals but a 2-0 victory at home, we are happy with that.
“I didn’t feel like we were going to concede throughout the game, I don’t feel like we are going to concede in many games to be honest.
“With the threats in the team that we have got since January onwards, with how solid we are defensively, we have made a good start.
“There is a real togetherness at this football club and that is showing with the positive results on matchdays.”
