Gillingham v Notts County

Priestfield

Sky Bet League Two

Saturday 21st October

Kick-Off, 3pm

Team News:

Tim Dieng remains unavailable due to a knee injury. The midfielder has trained on the grass this week but this fixture will come too soon for him.

Ashley Nadesan looks likely to remain side-lined for a few weeks having sustained an ankle injury in the early stages of the Mansfield fixture.

Oli Hawkins continues to work on his recovery from a long-term heel injury, whilst Robbie McKenzie and Shaun Williams will continue to be assessed until kick-off, owing to doubts over respective ongoing niggles.

Scott Malone returns to the squad, having been suspended for the trip to Walsall the previous weekend. Shad Ogie is suspended but Cheye Alexander is available after returning from international duty with St. Lucia.

As for Notts County they may well make changes following the 4-1 defeat to Mansfield last weekend, however the squad is likely to remain the same with no publicised injury or suspension concerns.

Manager Comments:

Keith Millen: “It’s going to be a cracking atmosphere. It’s their 5000th game in the football league, I know they’ve put on free travel for their fans.

“I hope our players are looking forward to it, these are the games that you should be looking at as a player."

Luke Williams: "I think we need to still hit a higher level of performance all around and, as I say, we’re a work in progress. We need a bit more exposure of the division of the level to try and stabilise our performances and get something much more consistent and I’m very confident that is what we’ll do.”

Previous Meeting:

The clubs haven't met since the final day of the 2014/15 season. Notts County were 1-0 up going into the closing stages but the Gills netted three times in the space of a few minutes to take all three points.

John Egan, Luke Norris and Brennan Dickenson all found the target.

Head-to-Head:

Gillingham – 15

Draw – 6

Notts County – 10

The Gills have not encountered Notts County as often as you might think over the course of history.

Gillingham hold a winning record, notching 15 wins against 10 for Notts County. A single League Cup tie saw the Gills progress back in 1972.
