Defences on top at Beechings as Gills draw with Millwall.
Both defences stood firm at Beechings as Gills `B` team played out a 0-0 draw with Millwall at the club's training ground.
A strong side was named with Oli Hawkins, Lewis Walker and Joe Gbode all starting. Josh Chambers and Sam Gale also made the XI.
Taite Holtam made two strong saves midway through the first half to stop Millwall taking the lead. The visitors also struck the bar with an acrobatic effort.
A free-kick from Chambers on 26 minutes found Alex Giles who met the delivery with a strong header, however it looped over the bar and away to safety.
Just before the break Kai Garrett found a yard of space on the edge of the box to try his luck. His right footed effort was struck very well but the Millwall keeper got his fingertips on it, diverting the ball onto the bar before it was cleared.
H/T: Gillingham 0-0 Millwall
Garrett, who had come on for Hawkins, had another chance soon into the second period. He won possession high up the field and went through on goal. His defender pulled at his shirt and did just enough to put off the forward whose eventual effort was straight at the keeper.
A midfield battle ensued with neither side really dominating possession. Will de Wilde was introduced late on with Josh Bayliss having come on for Lewis Walker.
Inside the last ten minutes Gills had a good chance to score a possible winner. Ike Orji's cross into the box was met by Chambers, the contact on the header was good but it was guided just wide of the target.
