Clemence | "I know there will be a reaction"

Gills Head Coach has called on his side to react positively following Easter Monday's defeat at Harrogate.

Stephen Clemence is demanding a reaction after Monday's heavy defeat at Harrogate left management and players 'hurt and angry'.

The Gills had looked in full control for 60 minutes as they sat comfortably ahead, but the final thirty minutes saw the Kent side ship in five goals. Clemence wants to harness the anger and frustration as they look to make amends against Bradford.

"To concede five goals in half an hour was completely out of character," reflected Clemence. "I never saw it coming, but we all have to take responsibility, myself included, and we can't ever let that happen again. The result hurt a lot of people. We have had a kick in the stomach. What I want to see now is a performance.

"We took a big travelling support and we are seventh in the league and we know if we win we will be in the play-off places and we have come up short. I can only apologise to the supporters because they do spend their hard-earned cash and follow us everywhere in numbers.

"There has been a lot of hurt and anger in the camp but we came in the next morning and had a calmer chat. We draw a line under it and move on to the next game.

"We can't let this happen again. We have a big game to look forward to this weekend and that is where mine and the players' focus is now.

"I know there will be a reaction on Saturday against Bradford. It will be a tough game but it is one we are looking forward to.

"The good thing about football is you get knocked down but you have the opportunity to get up and go again very quickly. That is what me and the boys will be looking to do at the weekend."
