Clemence | "We need to make sure we take them on"

Head Coach looks ahead to Friday night Football at Meadow Lane.

Stephen Clemence is in a confident mood ahead of Gillingham's big Friday night fixture with Notts County.

The Gills Head Coach is aware that a victory would put his team in the play-off spots, if only for a matter of hours before the weekend, and he is sure that if his team bring their 'A Game' then they will be departing Meadow Lane with a point or three.

"I always enjoy a game under floodlights," said a relaxed Clemence. "They have a nice stadium. It will be a challenging game but one I am looking forward to.

"Our away form recently has been very good. We have beaten Accrington, we beat Colchester and I think we should have beat MK Dons as well. I have been really pleased with the away form lately.

"The home form hasn't been as good, I have to admit that, but we go to Notts County and we are looking forward to taking them on.

"We will take our game to them and if we perform like we have in the last few away games then I think we will give them a very good game.

“I know that since Christmas we are the top crossers in the league, we are just behind MK Dons and Notts County in highest xG (expected goals) and we are second best for xG conceded and we are doing okay ourselves.

“We have had a couple of results at home where we haven’t played well enough but we still didn’t get beat, we have taken 11 points from 18 and that is top-three form, there is plenty to be positive about going into the game and we need to make sure we take them on.

"If we bring our 'A game' then we will be right in the game, I promise you. If we perform the way we want to, we will give them problems."
