Students at the GFC School visited by reps at Show Racism the Red Card.
The GFC School was visited by an engaging representative from Show Racism the Red Card, the UK's leading anti-racism educational charity, who led an informative workshop which sparked discussions and helped educate students.
Our learners investigated the causes and consequences of racism as they explored the various forms racism can take. The seminar, which helps young people play an active role as citizens in an increasingly multi-cultural society, gave our young pupils a platform to be able to share their own experiences, thoughts and ideas as they discussed ethnicity, faith, culture and nationality.
Enthusiastic GFC students were eager to raise their hands to ask and answer questions and they were given the opportunity to express their own opinions as well as taking on board other people's views.
After the workshop ended, students had gained a greater understanding of what racism is and how it impacts both individuals and society, and crucially they were given the knowledge and tools to challenge it.
