Conor Masterson says the squad will remain positive after claiming a point at home to Crewe which puts the Gills back in the play-off places.
Gills defender Conor Masterson says the team must take the point from Crewe Alexandra and move on to Harrogate in a positive frame of mind after the 0-0 draw at ME7 on Good Friday.
In a game of few chances, the points were shared and although Masterson admitted there was an element of frustration in the camp, the squad is already looking forward to Easter Monday's game at Harrogate.
The Gills were unable to find the winning goal, with Tom Booth making strong saves from Tim Dieng and Josh Andrews.
Conor spoke to the media after the game:
Reflecting on the performance
“It was a game of few chances, Crewe came with a plan to stop us and they did that.
“I thought we came out of the blocks well inside the first 20 minutes but all in all it was a fair result.
“It was a tough game with both keepers making great saves throughout.
“We really had our chances, especially when the ball was played across with that brilliant header being saved.”
Monday’s trip to Harrogate
“We are confident going up to Harrogate, we feel we can get three points. We will have our game plan.
“The boys are obviously frustrated but we are looking forward to Monday and the Gaffer has told us to stay positive.
“A point today, fair enough, we take it and go again on Monday, Football is always changing with results either going your way or not."
The run-in
“We have to put in serious performances, I am confident in the lads and so is the management that we can go and finish strong.
“When you are the home team, you want to be on the front foot, we have had seven draws at home. It's not ideal, but it is what it is.
“We are in seventh and believe in ourselves that we can stick around the play-off places."
