Club wins Family Excellence Bronze Award

Gillingham FC is proud to have won the EFL Family Excellence Bronze Award.

The Football Club is absolutely delighted to report that we have been awarded the EFL Family Excellence Bronze Award for the 2023-24 Sky Bet League 2 season.

Gillingham had won the award just once in the last five campaigns, however it was reported following our most recent visit by the EFL that there was “a very significant improvement in the experience” with a lot of new practices and engagement ideas put in place to make Priestfield a more welcoming environment for families, young or old.

A new megastore was opened in November in 2023 which has proved very popular, containing merchandise for all ages. We have brought back the half-time shootout entertainment and our mascots have continued to play an important role when engaging with adults and children.

Furthermore, we have placed televisions in the Rainham and Medway Stand concourses, we have dedicated Junior pages in our matchday programme and have put together a fan guide which covers everything supporters need to know when visiting Priestfield.

Large pictures of current first-team players have been placed at various points around the ground and more staff are now available to serve from the Factory or kiosk areas.

In comparison to the scores we were given at the end of the 2022/23 season, we have climbed 12 places within our own division.

In the entire EFL, we have gone up 20 places!

On receipt of the report, Managing Director Joe Comper said: "A lot of hard work and dedication has gone into improving the experience at Priestfield this season, and our family excellence report from the EFL has recognised that. I'm immensely proud of the team of staff that have all contributed to this acheievement.

"It's something we've spoken about numerous times within the club, so to achieve it is a real milestone for the off-field team. It's not just those who work full-time, but those who work in kiosks, as stewards, our mascots and everyone else who helps us deliver match days at Priestfield. I can't thank them enough."
