Gills boss Mark Bonner has called on the support base to get behind the U18's for their second round FA Youth Cup tie at home to Swindon on Tuesday evening.
The first-team were not in action on Saturday due to Walsall, our scheduled opponents, having had players called up for international duty. As a result of that the next game at ME7 is the youth fixture, and the manager wants to create a strong atmosphere for the youngsters following their brilliant victory over Charlton.
Joe Dunne will be taking charge of one his first games at the helm as youth team boss, and Mark Bonner wants the fans to turn out in force for the game at MEMS Priestfield Stadium.
He said: "Any Gills fans watching this [his interview] come and support those boys, we want a crowd and we want the boys to play in front of a few people.
"It's a brilliant competition, everybody loves it and I am sure the boys are looking forward to it and hopefully we can get a few behind them to get the atmosphere in the ground and I think people will really enjoy watching it.
"A few of the boys train with us quite regularly. Hopefully they can learn lessons and see how we are doing things and have a little bit of an insight into the group and the team they are trying to get into, so when they go back and train with their own team they set the standard and pass that onto people."
