Bonner | "I understand the frustration of the fans"

Bonner Accy 1

Mark Bonner says he understands the frustration of the fans following Thursday's 3-0 defeat at home to Bromley.

The Ravens scored twice in the opening 45 minutes, and added a third in the closing stages of the game to seal victory. Bonner revealed his disappointment to the media following the fixture.

Match Reaction...

The first-half was horrible, but for 20 minutes in the second-half I thought we looked okay but you can't be a team that easy to score against. In the second-half we came out a fine team, made some changes and looked like we might get one back but then the third goal really killed the game for us.

The 20 minutes after half-time is a little bit more in line with the sort of team I want to see on the pitch and be the manager of.

We have to find a way of getting the best players , the most athletic players and the most energetic players on the pitch as often as possible, we are continuously trying to change the dynamic so we can be that team more often.

Moving forward...

We can try to find a consistent team that can play together, which we did prior to Boxing Day where we returned two wins and a draw, and then we took that team into Colchester and the inconsistencies of our level was shown and that carried on to Wimbledon.

Yes there can be changes and developments to the squad certainly and I think anyone trying to take a team into January is doing the same thing. Hopefully we get to a point where we are in order to reach the team we need to be. There should be an expectation that we are a better team.

We certainly are capable of being a better team than we are at the moment.

Injuries...

There will be loads of changes in the squad but I am not going to speculate on that, it just depends on who is available and what is available. The number of players who played at Wimbledon will probably be all right for Chesterfield but it would have been too much for them to play three games in six or seven days.

Josh Andrews received a stitch at half-time and was able to come back out in the second-half, unfortunately it's part of the game even though it disjoints you a bit.

Conor Masterson will be out for a bit. Aaron Rowe did his knee, but he might be okay to play against Chesterfield. Bradley Dack was expected to miss out tonight. It is rare that you have a fully fit squad all the time but after this period the games start to thin out so we might be able to balance the squad better.

Message to fans...

I understand the frustration of the fans because it wasn't very good, and there have been too many games where we haven't been good enough.

We haven't really got a leg to stand on tonight so we can't really argue with the fans' reaction, what I do know is that the club has potential, I know that I am good and I know we have some good players. It has to change quickly because we need to find the formula for getting to where we want to be.
