Gbode | "It felt good"

Gbode

Joe Gbode spoke with the media after Gillingham secured a massive 1-0 win against Morecambe at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Gbode, who was awarded the 'Sponsors' Man of the Match' award, discussed the match winner Robbie McKenzie, his emotions post-match, his thoughts on the game, and praised the supporters for playing their part.

Emotions post-game…

It felt good, as we wanted the three points, and we got it in the end.

It’s a relief at the end of the day. We felt like in the last few games, our performances warranted a win, and we got it today.

Thoughts on the game…

We put pressure on them. We put them on the back foot all game. They didn’t look like scoring, and we did, but I feel like, as a team, we need to put teams to bed, especially when we have them on the back foot. That’s one thing that we have been struggling with, but we are getting there.

On Robbie McKenzie…

He’s an amazing guy and an amazing player. Everything that he does is so clean and so good.

He’s everyone’s favourite. He’s produced in big moments. He’s everywhere. What can’t he do? I’m delighted for Robbie. We’re all delighted for him.

The supporters…

The fans were excellent throughout the whole game. They gave us support.

We felt it as well, and that’s what helped us get the win.
