Nevitt | "It was a good run out"

Nevitt Millwall

Summer signing Elliott Nevitt was pleased to get out on the pitch for the first time after Gillingham drew 0-0 with Millwall at the Priestfield Stadium.

The striker, who joined the club from Crewe last month, was pleased to compete in what was a competitive game against a team in a higher division.

Joining Nevitt at the Gills was former teammate Aaron Rowe. The two combined to create a big chance, which saw Elliott denied by the Millwall goalkeeper. The 27-year-old spoke on the pair's friendship and how it will help them this season.

Thoughts on the game...

It was a good run out. It was hard near the end of the game because they had the ball and we had to stay in our shape. We had chances. I had a couple of chances, and a few of the other lads had chances. We got 45 in the tank, so that's all that matters.

Relationship with Aaron Rowe...

He's a good mate of mine, and we came here together on the first day, and now we come in on our own. All the lads are nice, and we get along, so it's all good.

He knows that once he got in and he drove, that I would pull off. I hit it well, and the goalkeeper made a good save, but usually, I would back myself to score them.

I enjoyed playing with him, and he's a very good player. He has got the ability. When he gets it, I will always be ready.

Looking ahead to Watford...

That will be tough, but they are the games that we want. We don't want easy games. We want tough games because we need to be ready for that first game of the season.
