Colchester United v Gillingham
The JobServe Community Stadium
Sky Bet League Two
Thursday December 26, 2024
Kick-Off, 3pm
Team News:
Armani Little, Tim Dieng and Joe Gbode are all available for selection as Gills prepare to head to Essex. The only possible absentee is likely to be Oli Hawkins.
Bradley Dack is pushing for a start, as is George Lapslie having scored the equalizer in the 2-2 draw with Cheltenham last Friday.
As for Colchester, they are hoping Samson Tovide (hamstring) will be fit having been substituted during their last fixture against Crewe. Tom Flanagan and Mandela Egbo are both available, while Teddy Bishop should be okay having come off against the Railwaymen too, due to cramp.
Manager Comments:
Danny Cowley - “We’ve worked really hard to get to this point where we’ve got an unbeaten run going and get consistency in our performances, which I think we’ve found in the last nine games.
“The expectation and the demand from us inside the building is to maintain this.”
Mark Bonner – “It will be a game for real patience and real individual quality in combinations to try and hurt them and open them up.
“They have some really dangerous forward players with good experience and craft, a bit of pace and power down both flanks who can unlock you with clever passes. “
Previous Meetings:
The clubs have met on 90 occasions during respective histories. Gills edge the head-to-head statistics with 31 wins to 30.
The teams last clashed on New Year’s Day where a solitary goal from Scott Malone was enough to give the visitors the win in Essex.
