Gillingham v Cheltenham Town
MEMS Priestfield Stadium
Sky Bet League Two
Friday December 20, 2024
Kick-Off, 7.45pm
Team News:
Tim Dieng, Armani Little, Joe Gbode (concussion) and Oli Hawkins are all likely to sit out Friday’s game due to various injury issues.
Otherwise, the squad could be the same as it was at MK Dons last Saturday. George Lapslie is available for selection, as is Sam Gale.
As for Cheltenham, former Gills player Michael Flynn is hoping to have captain Scot Bennett back in contention following a knee injury.
Harry Pell, Ryan Haynes and Manni Norkett are all ruled out.
Manager Comments:
Mark Bonner: “It took a little bit of time for them to get going but they're in a nice rhythm at the moment.
“I think the front four are really, really creative for them and have got a lot of threats at the top end of the pitch. We'll have to be ready for a really energetic, aggressive team and a hard-running team that can cause you big problems in your own half.”
Previous Meetings:
The clubs have only ever met on 18 occasions. Gills have won five, Cheltenham have won four and the other eight fixtures have been a draw.
The last meeting at MEMS Priestfield Stadium took place in November 2021. At that time both clubs were in League 1, and it was the Robins who won the game 2-0 thanks to goals from Sean Long and Alfie May.
