Euan Williams Harrogate

Gillingham v Salford City

Sky Bet League 2

MEMS Priestfield Stadium

Saturday December 7

Kick-Off, 3pm

Team News:

Aaron Rowe and Bradley Dack could well make the matchday squad for the visit of Salford. Both have been suffering with hamstring injuries but have trained all week without any problems.

Jake Turner had to be substituted at half-time during the week with a possible broken nose, so he will be assessed up until the last moment. Glenn Morris and Luca Ashby-Hammond are ready to cover if required. Oliver Hawkins (knee) will miss out.

Max Clark should be available following the birth of his child, however Tim Dieng remains a doubt. The game may have come too soon for Armani Little.

As for Salford, they should have the same squad available to them as they did for the game against Harrogate earlier in the week. Former Gills loanees, Haji Mnoga and Hakeeb Adelakun could both travel.

Manager Comments:

Mark Bonner - “We know that we're in a bad position at the moment. We know that we're in a bad run of form at the moment.

"We know the team's not reflective of what any of us want to see on the football pitch, supporters included, and we know that at the moment it's a really disjointed team as we try and find a solution, get some (players) fit and make the changes that we're going to need to make to build that team."

Karl Robinson - "I think the players deserve a lot of credit and I’m really pleased from a recruitment perspective over the summer."

Previous Meetings:

The clubs have only ever met on four previous occasions, and Gillingham have won three of those. Salford won the first meet in December 2022, securing a comfortable 3-0 win at Priestfield thanks to goals from Theo Vassell, Ryan Watson and Callum Hendry.

The reverse fixture, on the final day of that season, saw Gills win 1-0 at the Peninsula Stadium courtesy of a Cheye Alexander penalty.

Last season, Gills did the double over Salford, winning 3-1 at home in November 2023 before going away in dreadful conditions to win 0-2 on the road. Shad Ogie and Tim Dieng with the goals.
