The club is delighted to announce that Ron Hillyard will be returning to MEMS Priestfield Stadium next Saturday as our legend for the game against Crewe Alexandra (February 15).
Ron spent nearly 20 years at ME7 as a player and coach, racking up an impressive total of 657 first-team appearances as goalkeeper, more than any other player in the club’s history.
He made his debut for Gills in August 1974 and made his final appearance in September of 1990 before retiring in 1991 due to a back injury.
He stayed on as assistant manager under Damien Richardson until he left the club in 1992.
He returned to ME7 during the 2011-12 season as a Goalkeeping Coach, a role he also held at Ebbsfleet between 2002 and 2016.
During the 2013-14 season, Ron was voted the club's greatest ever goalkeeper, making our all-time XI.
He will be enjoying a VIP experience in our 1893 club hospitality lounge prior to kick-off against the Railwaymen, before being presented to the fans during the half-time interval.
If you would like to enjoy a hospitality experience alongside one of our greatest legends, call us on 01634 300000 or email sales@priestfield.com.
