Sam Gale has put pen to paper on a new contract which will keep him at MEMS Priestfield Stadium until the summer of 2027, with a club option of a further year.
The 20-year-old, who had a loan spell with Chelmsford City earlier in the season, was recalled just before the New Year and started the game against AFC Wimbledon at Plough Lane before getting the nod at centre-back in the recent games at Grimsby Town and at home to Notts County.
Sam arrived at the club as an U13 and made his first-team debut in November 2021 as a substitute in a League 1 game at home to Cheltenham.
He has since had loan spells at Sheppey United and Hastings United. He signed his first professional contract last summer.
On agreeing his extension, Sam said: "I am over the moon to secure my future at this club. It is something I have worked hard for.
"It has happened quite quickly but I am really happy about it. It's a nice feeling."
An interview with the player will be available on the club website, and via our official YouTube page, in due course.
