Hull City loanee Andy Smith spoke to the media following Gillingham's 1-1 draw with Walsall at The Poundland Bescot Stadium.
Smith was feeling positive after the game, praising the character that the squad showed after going a goal down. The loanee also believes the Gills were unlucky in not finding a late winner.
The defender, who signed on deadline day, has had to settle in quickly at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium after two starts in a week. Smith spoke highly of the dressing room that he has come into and is enjoying his football.
There were 203 Gillingham supporters in attendance on Tuesday night, and the 23-year-old thanked them for the fantastic support.
Thoughts on the fixture and the team's performance...
From start to finish, I felt like we were right in the game. Obviously, they took the lead, but we've bounced back. I thought that we were unlucky not to get the three points. We've had a few penalty shouts that if they go our way, then it's a different story. The character to come back from a goal down. It's great.
[On Robbie McKenzie's goal and the team's performance] - It was a brilliant strike. He was brilliant all game, and all of the lads were from front to back. Nev [Elliott Nevitt] and Joe [Gbode] didn't give them a minute's rest all game, and that set the tone for the rest of the team behind them.
It was a brilliant performance from the lads.
On the mentality of the squad...
It's been a tough run of form. None of us are happy with the run of form that we're on, but all that we can do is graft our socks off like we did tonight and see where that leaves us. That's all that anyone can expect of us, and that is what we will give every time. Obviously, results might not always come, but you can guarantee that the lads in the dressing room will always give 100%.
How he is settling in...
I've settled in well. It's a brilliant group of lads and a great staff as well. They have made me feel really welcome from day one, so I feel that I have settled in well. I have played the two games and I am back enjoying my football again.
[On having Robbie McKenzie and Max Clark at the club] - It makes it a little bit easier to settle in. You know one of the lads to turn to if you don't know where the toilets are or something like that!
Both are top lads, and I can't thank them enough for helping me settle in the way that I have.
On the travelling support...
The fans have, again, come in their numbers on a cold Tuesday night, and as players, staff and as a group of lads as a whole, we cannot thank them enough. When times are tough, the fans do get us over the line. I thought that they were brilliant all night.
