The 19-year-old powerful striker graduated from the club’s academy and made his first-team debut at the age of 16 by coming on a substitute in a 1-0 defeat at Cheltenham in an FA Cup tie in November 2011.

He made two further appearances that season while also featuring regularly for the youth team. Stints at Margate, Folkestone, Hastings and Maidstone followed but the forward still featured six times for Gills during 2022-23, starting in a 1-1 draw away to Dagenham in the FA Cup.

In 2023-24, Gbode spent time on Aveley but, on returning to ME7, played in Gillingham’s final league game of the season, coming on as a sub in a 2-2 draw against Doncaster.
