After scoring 10 goals in 38 appearances for the Gills he moved to Brentford for £50,000 in March 1980 and later moved to Bournemouth in September 1981.
He made his debut against Swindon in a 2-2 home draw and scored his first goal in the Easter Monday thumping of Colchester United.
Gills boss Gerry Summers paid £40,000 to Southampton for the services of livewire striker Tony in March 1979.

Wayne has played for a number of clubs since and was last season at Ryman Premier League Bury Town.
The London born defender scored one goal in four appearances for the Gills while on loan from Watford in the 2003-04 campaign, his debut coming in a 2-0 home win over West Ham.

He made a total of 11 appearances, scoring twice, both goals coming in a 4-1 home win over Luton Town, before returning to the Chats the following summer.
The local lad joined the Gills from Chatham Town in May 1924 and made his debut against Bournemouth early on the following season.
