DAGENHAM 3-0 GILLINGHAM

Gills beaten in Youth Alliance Cup...

Darren Hare named a very young Gillingham squad, including seven schoolboys, for the short trip to Essex and they were unfortunately beaten by their Dagenham counterparts in the final round of group games of the Youth Alliance Cup.

After a bright opening by the home side they took the lead when Rouchy Efambe fired home in the 25th minute. Three minutes into the second half they extended their lead when Shaq Jordan Daniel went through to finish well.

Gills keeper Dan O’Neill then pulled off a great save to keep out a Tim Monsheju free-kick before Nathan Ferguson scored the Daggers third goal with a long range effort ten minutes from time.

The three points from this victory lifted Warren Hackett’s side above the Gills in the table on goal difference. At the time of writing Southend United were the only definite qualifiers from our group although Watford could progress from second place depending on other group results.
