KICK IT OUT WINNER VISITS

Our Community team visit the winners of our Kick it Out T-Shirt Competition

The Community Trust recently ran a competition for a t-shirt design to support the Kick It Out message. We received hundreds of entries, and after some lengthy discussions, two entries were combined to form the final design for the t-shirt, with three runners-up also chosen.

In the week leading up to the Gills’ dedicated ‘One Game, One Community’ fixture against Burton Albion, Head of Community Adam Lawrence visited the winners in their schools to present them with part of their prize, tickets for the game at MEMS Priestfield Stadium.

The first visit was to St Thomas of Canterbury School in Rainham, to present Roman Jheeta with his prize.  Adam then went to Barnsole Junior School to see Hayden Marshall.

Roman came up with the words “My Colour is Me..” which were printed on the front of the winning t-shirt, and Hayden had a very powerful message of Cut it Out, with a pair of scissors motif which was used on the reverse of our shirts.

Both boys were presented with their t-shirts before the game, and had photos taken with the GFC Gems and the Kick It Out banner on the pitch.  They also saw the Gills substitutes warming up in a copy of the t-shirts!
